Physical Education at CGPS is designed to promote physical activity, overall health, and motor skill development in a structured and supportive environment. P.E. aims to improve student’s physical fitness through various activities such as running, jumping, and stretching. It promotes cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and coordination. Students learn fundamental movement skills like throwing, catching, kicking, and dribbling. These skills lay the foundation for more complex sports and activities later on. At CGPS, P.E. covers a range of sports and activities tailored to the age and abilities of the students. These include AFL, netball, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, swimming, athletics (track and field), and more. Through team sports and cooperative games, P.E. fosters teamwork, communication, leadership, and sportsmanship. It also helps children manage emotions, build confidence, and develop resilience.
Visual Art at CGPS starts as a process-based program, exploring materials and processes allowing our students to experiment and respond, while developing their confidence. Students work in a wide range of mediums including collage, painting, printing, drawing and sculpture and they explore the historical and contemporary works of artists, including First Nations artists and cultures. They also learn about artists and their processes and apply that knowledge to their own artworks. In Visuial Art classes students work collaboratively and individually throughout the year, and their work is shared and celebrated in a biennial Art show.
Our L.O.T.E. program at CGPS offers a fun and engaging way for students to learn Mandarin. Through songs, games, and interactive activities, students develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. This program not only covers the language but also helps students learn and appreciate Chinese culture, inspiring a love for learning new languages and exploring different cultures around the world!
